PT Plus s pleased to offer a program to address women's health issues, featuring Elizabeth Poole. Elizabeth is a physical therapist specializing in treatment of common ailments that women experience. She is skilled in offering a Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Program.

The scope of physical therapy practice for treatment of the pelvic floor includes: incontinence, pelvic/ vaginal pain, prenatal and postpartum musculosketelal pain, wellness and exercise. Her expertise covers thorough evaluation and treatment of the pelvic floor, lumbar and abdominal muscles and the mechanics and alignment of the low back and pelvis.

Women across the life span, from those of childbearing years to the menopausal and elderly, benefit from physical therapy. Each woman is given an individualized program based on her needs and symptoms. The goal is to give each patient the knowledge and tools to improve the function of the pelvic floor as it relates to her overall wellbeing.

The program consists of thorough evaluation and treatment of the pelvic floor, lumbar and abdominal muscles and lumbar/pelvic mechanics and alignment. Diagnoses and treatment include:

Urinary Stress and Urge Incontinence
  • Strength training using EMG
  • Bladder training and urge reduction strategies
  • Improving sensory awareness through manual muscle/trigger point mobilization
  • Electrical Stimulation for decreasing muscle spasm or urge, and muscle sensory education
Pelvic Pain, Dyspareunia, Vulvodynia, and Related Disorders
  • Identifying pattern of dysfunction and training through EMG
  • Therapeutic exercise, postural assessment for alignment asymmetries
  • Scar massage; myofascial release, neuromuscular re-education, modalities
Pre-/Post-natal Orthopedics
  • Spine/pelvic dysfunction with body mechanics/childcare ergonomics
